Is there wrestling games you had been awaiting for... to the point of being "obsessed" for a long time? (lol)
I remember WWF War Zone back in 1998... I went to newsstores, checking videogame magazines... as early as late '97, I saw a preview of WWF War Zone with images... it was the longest-awaited game I had been waiting for....
I bought my N64 in the meanwhile, WCW vs nWo World tour and 5-6 other games (I think it was Wave Race, Cruisin USA, Blast Corps, Tetrisphere, Starfox 64)....
I bought several issues of Nintendo Power, one of them had a preview of WWF War Zone, it was told that the release is expected to be "Spring 1998"....
The spring had came ... checked other mags .... and that said "Summer 1998"
I went to hitch-hike to another town in early summer, seeing if it was released in some store ... nothing...
I found an issue of Nintendo Power with Stone Cold doing a leg hold on Undertaker ... I expected it to be released in "July"....
I went to check mags .... finally I read somewhere it was "August"....
Someday in late August, a local video rental got 2 copies of War Zone for rental... I ordered the game there, they tell me it will take 2 weeks to receive...
2 weeks lated, they didn't receive my game...
1 week later , same thing.... I was getting nuts...
1 week later, I finally got the game!!!!!
The other games I awaited very much were WWF WrestleMania 2000, Fire Pro Wrestling 2 on Advance, Legends of Wrestling II, and Fire Pro Returns....
Being a big fan of the Aki WCW games on N64, I figured that WrestleMania 2000 was my top prize then... I didn't have big nightmares on getting it... I remember having cut a page out of a magazine with this advertisement and stick it on a wall:
I had many magazines on that game...I bought that game in the same video rental as WWF War Zone... they had one copy lol
Fire Pro 2, I ordered to the same video rental and one more time, it was delayed... i went to Montreal in the meanwhile ...it was released in late fall 2002... i didn't mind about my order and bought the game in a Future Shop.... the one I ordered, I received it in Holidays, I didn't want to argue with the owner, so I bought it and dropped it in a used toys store to resale it for a little cheaper and it was sold 2 days later... I may have lost $15... I figured i had bought lots of games for real cheap... $15 was nothing for me...
Legends of Wrestling II took a real long time.... I checked many stores and no one had the PS2 version... I made the mistake of ordering it to an online store (winter 2003), I sent a check and didn't receive nothing... I made plaints on them and nothing ....
One day, in spring 2004, the pawnshop here had that game... It was real cheap and in brand-new condition, so I bought it....
Fire Pro Returns turned out to be a more enjoyable awaiting than the rest... November 13, i checked at the Wal Mart and they had only received SmackDown vs Raw 2008 ... the evening, I ordered in another video rental, the girl told me that it would take 2-3 weeks and asked me a deposit, so I agreed....
I only hoped to not relive the nightmares on other games' awaitings in the past...
Next day, the girl called me to say that they ordered the game....
2 days later, I received the game!!!! lol
